A Tribute to the Class of 2020

Shop For Higher Education

Help Castle High School earn scholarships while you shop @ Foodland!…Say ‘Castle High’ to the cashier. Castle High School is currently in 15th place and is now able to win three $2000 scholarships for our current graduating seniors. In addition to the scholarships, the top schools will also receive money towards their Project Graduation.

The Shop for Higher Education Program at Foodland is running now through March 31, 2020. Shop as you normally do and earn matching Maika`i points for Castle. Please spread the word to alumni friends and family!

Aloha Alumni,

Castle alumnus, Dennis Hida, Class of 1982, is seeking assistance with planning an event with a goal of providing hope and resources for struggling youth.

Goal: To reach those struggling with encouragement and real help and/or groups that can help them.  For youth that are ‘good’ to keep them that way by connecting them or making them aware of healthy, character building, supportive groups and activities.

Windward Community Event – LIGHT

Target Date:  Saturday May 9, 2020 11am-6pm @Windward Mall
Planned Program: 11am-4pm windward youth performing groups
4pm-6pm Local Entertainment

Information Tables for 3 types of groups:

  1. Non-Profits/support/Resources – target getting groups that deal with – anti-bullying(including cyber), anti-sex/human trafficking, suicide prevention, mental health, domestic abuse prevention, etc.
  2. Positive youth groups – bands, clubs, dance / hula groups, scouts, youth sports, etc.
  3. Spiritual groups(with support ministries and/or youth groups), service group(Rotarians, Kiwanis, Lions club, etc.)

Why LIGHT?

>help struggling youth with heavy burdens to make these burdens less heavy, to make these burdens LIGHT

>to remind youth the LIGHT that they are in so many people’s lives.

>As a community, protect the LIGHT that are our youth…In our actions and words, support and encouragement, discipline and love.

Castle High School FFA Imu Tickets for Sale

Castle’s Future Farmers of America are selling IMU tickets for Thanksgiving. All proceeds benefit Castle’s FFA Agriculture Program.

Bring your TURKEY or CHICKEN to roast in their imu. Easy peazy! Tickets may be purchased from the school office NOW.

On 11/27/19 (Wednesday)

  • Thaw and season whole turkey or chicken – up to 25 lbs
  • You may use a turkey bag to keep juices in
  • Wrap bird TIGHTLY in heavy duty aluminum foil 6 times around
    • 3 times around long ways
    • 3 times around short ways
  • Masking tape around length and width to keep foil tight – go around 3 times each way
  • Write your first and last name with permanent marker on the masking tape.  Failure to do so may result in you receiving the wrong bird.
  • Place bird in disposable aluminum foil pan
  • Drop it off to the Agriculture Shop (come through the cafeteria / tennis courts gate on Kaneohe Bay Drive) between 3:00 and 5:00 PM
  • Turn in your ticket and receive a claim ticket

On 11/28/19 (Thursday)

  • Bring your claim ticket
  • Bring a pan, cooler or plastic bags to contain the juices from the turkey at pickup
  • Pick up your cooked turkey between 9:00 and 11:00 AM

We will have a table with string and tape in case your bird needs to be rewrapped

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 

  • CUTTING AND PREPPING WOOD – Volunteers needed any time!
  • TUE 26h: 12:00 – 5:00 PM to help prepare banana stumps
  • WED 27st: 5-9 PM to load turkeys and close imu
  • THRS 28th: 8AM – 2:00 PM to unload turkeys, distribute, close up imu and clean up

Tribute to Kawaikapuaokalani Hewett

1972 Castle High School Alumni Kawaikapuaokalani Hewett is being honored by the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts for a Lifetime Achievement Award. Hewett is a vocalist, songwriter, recording artist, kumu hula, and cultural practitioner.
