TALK STORY with Kawaikapuokalani

October 1, 2024

KUPU ANA - the growth process from childhood to elder...

Come, talk story with Castle High School  Class of 1972 Alum Kawaikapuokalani Frank Loea Lehua Hewett. “This is a story about one who might be called a Hawaiian renaissance man. This man is multi-facetted and multi-talented, with an insatiable drive to serve his culture through sharing his knowledge. Like a tripod that will fall over without its three legs, Kumu and Kahuna Kawaikapuokalani Frank Loea Lehua Hewett could be called a master of three arts: hula, ho‘opa (healing) and haku mele (song composition). All are woven together, as all are intrinsic to the whole of this man.” This is an excerpt from Karen Valentine’s article on Kawaikapuokalani on keolamagazine.com.

The Castle Complex is the home of MANY notable alumni, who have made a mark in our community. Kawaikapuokalani will be joining us in a talk story session hosted by Mr. Herb Lee, Jr. who is a Director on the Castle Alumni/Community Association, King Intermediate alum and a lifelong Kaneohe community member and is the Executive Director of the Pacific American Foundation (PAF) and a Native Hawaiian “who has led multiple, highly successful youth leadership programs, career planning and development, environmental education and culture-based curriculum projects including the award winning “ Kāhea Loko and the Aloha ‘Āina” projects.”

Also joining us at this, our Annual Membership Meeting, is Castle High School Alum and U.S. Congressional Representative, Jill Tokuda.

There will be opportunities to sign up for different upcoming events, such as the craft fair, mock interviews, meet and greet for the freshman class and homecoming announcements.

If you are an administrator at one of our Castle Complex schools, please share this message to your staff and parents. We invite everyone to join us and participate in learning what goes on in our Complex schools.
